Lock Up Your Heaters

Ahhhhhh! We awoke this morning to Olly (named because he looks like an owl), our ceramic electric heater, blowing out cold air. COLD AIR! Can you believe it? The cheek!

We’ve looked after little Olly so well; loved him, cherished him, given him a boat to live on… and now this.

I had a quiet word with Olly when James went to work this morning, and it turns out that Olly seems to think it’s summer and thus will only blow cold air out. I have no idea where he got this idea from because it’s been pissing it down for the past day (month’s worth of rain in 24hrs sez the meeedia), complete with battering Severe Gale Force 9 winds last night.

So come on Olly, buck up mate, it’s COLD! And the Eberspacher wick was supposed to arrive yesterday but it didn’t, so now we have no heating. Shhh, don’t tell mum, she’ll demand I come home.

Actually - James had an idea. There are two other Olly’s that we know of in the marina. I think a kidnapping will be made today. Watch this space…

Olly, our ceramic heater, thinks its summer (hell only blow cold air)

Oh Lordie lordie! You see the arctic weather forecast. You sit there smugly smiling. Your Eberspacher is being repaired any moment; and you’ve had the forethought to get a ceramic heater just in case. The blizzard blows. You laugh, go to sleep. Olly is on guard. You wake up. Frozen! It’s not you who’s laughing –it’s the evil Olly – who’s turned traitor! And it appears no amount of kicking or other suitable torture (tried rendition?) will get it to repent.

But his evil deeds will misfire. The photo evidence is there for all to see. We know your name mate and where you live. Your fellows will all be put away in stores never to be seen again as sailors seek faithful, reliable guardians of their wellbeing.
